Horses: The Italian Horror Game Rejected by Steam
Santa Ragione's new, controversial work, releasing next week

Gamesurf is well acquainted with Santa Ragione, who in the past has signed titles like the interesting Saturnalia: a few years ago we had a chat with Pietro Righi Riva, the founder of the Italian studio. Santa Ragione's new game, created in collaboration with Andrea Lucco Borlera, is called Horses and is a grotesque horror adventure, featuring, among other things, a riding stable with naked human horses.
Steam's Rejection
If you want to see what it's about, we've embedded the trailer below, but we warn you that the images are suitable only for an adult audience. Horses will be released soon on PC, but it will not reach the main digital store, Steam, because it was rejected back in 2023. Things went more or less like this: after an initial review of Horses' content, Valve asked Santa Ragione to view a (non-final) build of the game.
Based on the examination, Valve decided to deny the sale of Horses on Steam. Please note: these events date back to 2023 and therefore have nothing to do with Steam's recent content policies. Santa Ragione asked for an explanation but did not receive a specific answer, only a referral to Steam's guidelines. The studio also tried multiple times to request a new review, but Valve consistently said no.
Where and When Horses Releases
If you want to know all the details of the Steam ban, Santa Ragione has shared a lengthy account on the game's official website. Horses will still be released and will be available starting next week, December 2nd, on PC via Epic Games Store, GOG, Itch.io, and Humble Store, priced at €4.99.
