A cross between a home invasion and a supernatural nightmare takes shape in Hold the Devil, a new project by Álex de la Iglesia, the eclectic Spanish director known for works like Acción mutante, Perdita Durango, and The Day of the Beast.

The film stars Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Demián Bichir (image below), who are tasked with leading a story set amidst a climate of siege and occult horror.

Trapped with Something Dark

The story opens on the border between Texas and Mexico, where policewoman Sara Myall and security guard Henry Campos, following a tip, break into a seemingly deserted show home.

Inside, they find a wounded woman and her son, Gio, seeking refuge after a desperate escape. The situation escalates when a powerful cartel criminal, Marcus, arrives on the scene demanding the child. It soon becomes clear that Gio is no ordinary target: something dark and incredibly powerful hides within him, capable of attracting violence and obsession.

Trapped in the house as danger grows from outside, Sara and Campos face an extreme choice: hand over the boy or confront a threat beyond all logic.

Produced by Pokeepsie Films, among others, the film promises a direct, high-tension approach, where action and horror coexist relentlessly, pushing the characters to their limits.
