FBC Flop: Firebreak Costs Dearly, Remedy CEO Resigns
Tero Virtala steps down from the company's helm after 9 years

Remedy Entertainment's 2025 has been negatively impacted by the disappointing results of FBC: Firebreak. Released last June, this cooperative shooter started below expectations; at the end of September, an attempt was made to reverse the trend with the major update Breakpoint, but the situation did not improve, and Remedy was forced to revise its financial estimates.
Tero Virtala's Farewell
For a relatively small company like Remedy, having a game that requires continuous support over time but performs poorly is a rather heavy burden, and unfortunately, it cannot be ruled out that a strong decision, such as the termination of development, will soon be made. There has already been a significant change, likely as a direct consequence of Firebreak's flop: Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy, has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
Virtala had been at the helm of the company since August 2016: during his "reign," in addition to the unfortunate FBC: Firebreak, successes such as Control and Alan Wake II also arrived. In a press release, Remedy announced that Markus Maki, one of the founders of the Finnish software house, has provisionally taken his place, pending the identification of the new definitive CEO.
