But Krafton will pay the hefty bonus to developers

Subnautica 2, another twist: CEO resigns

The development of Subnautica 2 has had to contend with some quite troubled events, which had nothing to do with the video game itself and still have noticeable repercussions. The Korean company Krafton had acquired the studio Unknown Worlds Entertainment only to then oust its executives, an unclear affair that ended up in court. The court then sided with the former Unknown executives, ordering the reinstatement of Ted Gill as CEO.

Subnautica 2 has thus finally been released in early access and has proven to be a great success. So, all good then? Not at all. Less than two months after launch, Ted Gill decided to step down and resign (via Bloomberg), leaving the CEO position vacant: his replacement will be an external figure to Krafton and Unknown. Side note: Krafton has agreed to pay the disputed bonus to the developers, a figure around 250 million dollars. To learn more about the game, check out our preview.
