Xbox Backward Compatibility: Original Xbox Games on PC
A new way to rediscover past glories

In discussions among video game enthusiasts, game preservation is a recurring topic, which has become even more relevant recently due to fears related to the abandonment of physical media. Xbox has always strived to keep its two-decade-plus library available to users and has now adopted a new initiative in this regard, called Xbox Backward Compatibility.
What is Xbox Backward Compatibility
The purpose of Xbox Backward Compatibility is precisely to make games from past generations more easily accessible, allowing them to be played on computers and similar devices (i.e., portable devices like the Xbox ROG Ally). The initiative began with four titles from the original Xbox era, over 20 years ago, which can now be played on PC for the first time:
- BLiNX: The Time Sweeper
- Conker: Live and Reloaded
- Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
- Fuzion Frenzy
These titles are enhanced with features such as resolution upscaling up to 4x, VSync and anisotropic filtering support, anti-aliasing, and more. Additionally, Achievements will be added in the coming months. The games are available for purchase on Xbox PC and are included with all Game Pass plans; those who already own them in their digital Xbox console library will not have to spend anything, because the license will be automatically extended to the PC counterpart.
Obviously, the four video games listed above are just the beginning: just think how many titles from past Xbox consoles have never made it to PC… For more information on Xbox Backward Compatibility, consult the Xbox blog.
