Steam Rewards Games of the Year, but the Winner Isn't Expedition 33
There's another, massive title on the PC gaming throne

We are in a period characterized by awards for the best games of the year, which are bestowed at hundreds of different events. The most prestigious is undoubtedly The Game Awards: 2025 was the year of triumph for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which won in no less than nine categories, including, of course, Game of the Year. The work by French studio Sandfall Interactive is set to sweep up awards and could even challenge Elden Ring's record.
The Winner of the Steam Awards
Expedition 33 will cannibalize the competition in terms of awards, but it certainly wasn't the only deserving title released in 2025. For example, on Steam, the most representative platform for PC gaming, Expedition 33 was included among the Game of the Year nominees, but surprisingly it didn't win: the recognition went to Hollow Knight: Silksong, which, despite its high difficulty, represents the state of the art in metroidvanias.

It's interesting to note that Steam's awards are decided by the users themselves, through a vote: for Silksong, it was therefore a testament of esteem from the PC gaming community. Expedition 33 consoled itself with the award for best soundtrack.
