Steam Frame is Coming, But the Price Exceeds €1,000

The last component of Valve's hardware triptych is also about to hit the market: after the Controller and Machine, it's time for Steam Frame. This wireless virtual reality headset boasts a true computer inside, with SteamOS, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, and 16 GB of unified RAM. The display is an LCD with a resolution of 2,160*2,160 per eye and a refresh rate between 72 and 144 Hz. Six cameras are mounted on the Steam Frame, and the headset includes a dual controller (one for each hand).

How Much Does Steam Frame Cost?

For complete technical specifications, please consult the official website. This is a premium product, sold at a historically complicated time for hardware, and this is reflected in the price. Steam Frame is sold in two variants, depending on internal storage:

• Steam Frame - 256 GB Kit - price: €1,049
• Steam Frame - 1 TB Kit - price: €1,279

A copy of Half-Life Alyx is included in the bundle with the game. However, the power supply is not included and must be purchased separately as an accessory (for €39).

How to Buy Steam Frame

To prevent scalpers from hoarding Steam Frame and reselling it on eBay at an inflated price, Valve has decided to adopt the same (somewhat convoluted) system implemented with the Steam Machine. To purchase the product, you will need to make a reservation on Steam by September 17th at 7:00 PM: anyone with a valid Steam account who made a purchase before April 27th, 2026, can reserve. 

Through a random drawing, Valve will determine the order in which users can access the purchase, and on September 18th, they will notify interested parties via email of their position in the queue. After that, you will have to wait: when the order is ready, Valve will contact the user again for the purchase, which must be completed within 72 hours. Once this procedure is concluded, the shipment of Steam Frame to the user's home will finally begin.
