The Protector - Schwarzenegger Debuts as Thriller Author

Arnold Schwarzenegger has imagined the story of Viktor Brennan for decades, a Catholic priest with a veteran past who finds himself fighting against the criminal gangs of east Los Angeles. Now that story becomes The Protector, a thriller co-written with James Patterson.

Brennan leads the parish of Saint Dominic's and tries to keep his community safe as crime in the area becomes increasingly aggressive. His military experience makes him anything but a defenseless priest. Following his moves is Sandra Reyes, an LAPD detective, while on the other side of the conflict is Cera, a powerful criminal destined to drag Brennan into a spiral of violence.

Faith Versus Vengeance

When an innocent person gets caught in the war between Brennan and Cera, the priest decides to intervene directly. From that moment, his army background resurfaces, and the protection of the community gives way to a personal confrontation with the criminal. For Brennan, the choice to react with violence also means coming to terms with the faith to which he has dedicated his life.

Schwarzenegger says he conceived this story many years ago and found in Patterson the ideal collaborator to turn it into a novel. For the actor, this marks his debut in thriller fiction, after a career built primarily through action cinema.

The Protector will arrive in bookstores on October 4, 2027. No film adaptation has been announced, and Schwarzenegger is not currently linked to a potential film in the role of Brennan. The potential for a film seems to be there; obviously, much depends on the novel's success.
