Spiders is a French studio founded in Paris in 2008, known for titles such as Technomancer, GreedFall, and Steelrising. Its latest work, GreedFall: The Dying World, was released just last month, after spending a year and a half in early access. It's a title that boasts many excellent ideas and role-playing expertise, but with an execution that leaves a bit to be desired: we explain it better in our review.

The Closure of Spiders

Spiders' parent company, Nacon, recently declared bankruptcy and, through a receiver, is trying to sell some of its assets to cover its debts. One of these assets is Spiders itself: the deadline for bids to acquire the studio was set for April 14, but as reported by the French portal Origami, no potential buyers came forward. Spiders' employees gathered one last time yesterday to pay tribute to the studio's 18 years of activity.

GreedFall Support Concludes

Spiders remained committed to the development of GreedFall: The Dying World until the very end, with its latest patch released just two days ago. This update introduced Japanese and Korean localizations, as well as fixing a long list of bugs. Obviously, now that the studio is gone, it is very unlikely that the game will receive further support.

UPDATE: In a message, Spiders confirmed the closure. GreedFall: The Dying World will receive one additional previously agreed-upon DLC, the bonus mission included in the Deluxe Edition, and this will be the game's final update.
