The Last of Us to continue in the future with 2 new projects

Every year, on September 26, Naughty Dog holds The Last of Us Day, a celebratory event for its famous franchise. The date of the anniversary was chosen in a particular way: it is the day when the Cordyceps epidemic reached its peak in the TLoU universe. On the sidelines of the 2026 edition, series creator Neil Druckmann shared a couple of important updates on the Californian studio's future works.

The next The Last of Us projects

In his message, Druckmann confirms that there will be new The Last of Us games in the future. In particular, he speaks of two projects whose development is still in an embryonic stage. Unfortunately, no further details are specified, except that both "will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II". We certainly won't hear about them anytime soon, as the studio has another game to deal with first.

Intergalactic to be shown in 2027

The game in question is obviously Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which was announced at The Game Awards 2024, perhaps a little prematurely. Since then, we have seen little to nothing of the title, and it will remain that way for the rest of 2026, but in 2027 Naughty Dog will finally make a proper presentation of its work.
