Spellcasters Chronicles Closes Just 3 Months After Launch
Another game as a service that prematurely ends its journey

The ruthless world of games conceived as a service claims another victim, this time from Quantic Dream. The French studio, known for acclaimed adventures like Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, launched Spellcasters Chronicles, a new MOBA where two teams of three players battle with magic, in early access on February 26. In our review, we spoke of it as a possible revolution.
The server shutdown date
This revolution, unfortunately, will never happen, because Spellcasters Chronicles failed to achieve the hoped-for success, and in the field of live service games, a title that doesn't generate significant engagement from the start has a very short lifespan. Less than three months after launch, Quantic Dream announces the closure of the project: the servers will be permanently shut down on June 19. The French studio is still regularly developing Star Wars Eclipse, which was announced in 2021.
