Shiver and Keanu Reeves' Return to Sci-Fi
All signs indicate the film could become a cult classic in its genre
A new science fiction project is taking shape in Hollywood: Keanu Reeves will star in Shiver, a film directed by Tim Miller, director of Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is in advanced negotiations to secure the rights to the project, which could become one of the most ambitious titles of the period.
Described as a cross between Edge of Tomorrow and Paradise Beach – Into the Labyrinth
Written by Ian Shorr (Splinter), the story follows an unlucky smuggler who, during an assignment in the Caribbean seas, finds himself at the center of a deadly double-cross: surrounded by corpses, hostile mercenaries, and hungry sharks, the man discovers he is trapped in a time loop from which he must find a way to escape alive.
Fresh off the spin-off Ballerina linked to the John Wick universe, this marks a return to pure science fiction for Keanu after Matrix and Replicas. For his part, Miller will be able to leverage his experience with Love, Death & Robots, a Netflix series that redefined SF storytelling visually and conceptually.
Producing Shiver will be Aaron Ryder and Matthew Vaughn, already known for Kick-Ass and the Kingsman saga.
