Mortal Kombat II: Scorpion Shows His Fatality
The sequel intends not to tone down the violence but to relaunch it as an identifying trait

New footage from Mortal Kombat II doesn't focus on dialogue or plot previews, choosing instead a direct message, made of blood and steel. In the short clip released by New Line Cinema, Scorpion returns to the scene with his signature move, the kunai thrown with the cry of “Get over here!”, culminating in a fatality that unreservedly pays homage to the historical brutality of the video game.
Hiroyuki Sanada reprises the role of Hanzo Hasashi, confirming that the conflict with Bi-Han remains central. The rivalry between Scorpion and Sub-Zero, the narrative heart of the saga created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, seems destined to evolve further, with possible developments linked to the transformation of Bi-Han into Noob Saibot.

The full trailer will arrive on February 25, while the cinematic release is set for May 8, 2026. After the 2021 film, Simon McQuoid returns to direct with the aim of expanding the scale of the conflict: more fighters, more tournaments, and a global threat represented by Shao Kahn.
Among the new additions to the cast, Karl Urban stands out as Johnny Cage, joined by familiar faces Jessica McNamee, Ludi Lin, and Joe Taslim. The production, handled by New Line Cinema alongside Atomic Monster, promises a more ambitious and visually extreme chapter.
If the new clip is any indication, Mortal Kombat II intends not to tone down the violence but to relaunch it as an identifying trait, reaffirming the direct link with the most iconic and brutal elements of the video game saga.
