MindsEye, the title developed by Build a Rocket Boy and published by IO Interactive, hasn't exactly been the biggest success of late; quite the opposite. The game is an MMO with a modern setting conceived by Leslie Benzies – also a producer for the GTA, Red Dead, and Max Payne series – but already after its launch last June, it was clear that something had gone wrong.

Following the fanciful accusations of sabotage made by Benzies himself, IOI even began to question the possibility of continuing its work as a publisher. Despite this, on the VGA 2025 stage, Geoff Keighley had announced that in 2026, Build a Rocket Boy's game would receive new life thanks to the introduction of a special crossover mission featuring none other than the protagonist of the Hitman series, Agent 47.
Apparently, this will not be the case.

From the pages of Insider Gaming comes the news that the agreement between the developer and publisher is now on the brink, and as a primary consequence of the imminent breakup, the mission with Agent 47 is dead in the water. It even seems that the initiative for the separation came from Build a Rocket Boy, with Benzies intending to bring publishing in-house to gain greater control over the game's future.

It must be said that Benzies has always had a visionary attitude towards his work: initially, it was supposed to be distributed on a platform he developed called Everywhere, but the agreement with IOI shifted everything to traditional channels. It's possible that this compromise already felt restrictive to the boss of Build a Rocket Boy, and the desire for independence is also compatible with the attitude conveyed by the accusations of sabotage we mentioned.

In any case, the future of MindsEye is becoming at least nebulous...
