The Investigation Game: How the Only Murders in the Building experience works

In practice, The Investigation Game unfolds as an interactive experience similar to an escape room: participants are guided through settings arranged as real crime scenes in the rooms of Casa Olimpia, transformed into Villa Austera, the residence of the couple Osvaldo and Rachele and their servants.

You move from one room to another, among props, hidden clues, and suspects played by actors, with the freedom to search everywhere and the need to take notes, compare alibis and statements, inspect drawers, old photographs, and suitcases full of personal effects.

The goal is to collect elements, piece together the clues, and try to solve a mystery related to the alleged murder of one of the protagonists. The formula is designed to immerse participants in the world of the series: the rooms are filled with easter eggs that recall details and iconic moments from Only Murders in the Building, while live performances contribute to the feeling of experiencing an episode firsthand.

Only Murders in the Building: The investigative experience story

This writer previewed the entire experience, which lasted about an hour. Upon entering the villa, participants are given a token, a notepad, a pen, and a map of the residence. They are then seated in the living room, where the butler explains the tragedy that has struck the house and urges them to investigate, introducing the owners of Villa Austera and the staff present in the house at the time of the incident: the cook, the lawyer, the gardener, the spiritual consultant, and of course, the butler himself, while the master of the house is out of town.

The various performers interact with each other, providing a series of clues about their relationships with the victim and their whereabouts at the time of the alleged crime. Visitors are then given freedom to wander through the house and explore the rooms of all the protagonists, directly asking them for information about alibis and motives, comparing them, while searching through their personal belongings and those of the victim. There are two dedicated floors: the raised ground floor and the basement. At the end of the exploration, after the final confrontation, participants will be asked to try and guess the identity of the culprit, placing their token. Upon exiting, each participant will receive a top-secret envelope with the complete resolution of the enigma.

Of course, I won't reveal anything about the case or the culprit's identity, but my advice is to take notes from the initial stages of the case and carefully observe every detail, sharpening your wits, because the mystery to be solved is very complex and requires concentration.

The Investigation Game celebrates the new season of Only Murders in the Building

The new season of Only Murders in the Building officially arrived on Disney+ with the first three episodes on September 9, followed by new weekly installments. The experience in Milan is not only an original way to celebrate its release but also an opportunity to step into the shoes of the protagonists Charles, Oliver, and Mabel.

The plot of the fifth season begins with the mysterious death of the doorman Lester: convinced it's not an accident, the three impromptu investigators embark on an investigation that will lead them into the darker sides of New York, among secrets involving billionaires and old criminal acquaintances. The Investigation Game allows the public to get closer to that atmosphere, experiencing the charm of a mystery firsthand.
