Fatekeeper: How to Get the Everice Blade, the Most Powerful Ice Sword in the Game
A step-by-step guide to finding the secret weapon hidden in the Reservoir Ruins, with build tips and combat strategy

Fatekeeper landed on PC in Early Access on June 2, 2026, published by THQ Nordic and developed by Paraglacial, a small studio of only 13 people. It has already captivated thousands of players thanks to its dark fantasy atmosphere and a first-person combat system that nods to the great classics of the genre. Many have already noticed the similarities with Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, Ubisoft's small masterpiece released twenty years ago, and it's no coincidence that the title is garnering very positive feedback on social media and in dedicated communities.
Among the most coveted secrets of the game is undoubtedly the Everice Blade, the hidden ice sword that represents, at least in the initial phase of Early Access, the strongest weapon available. Discovering how to obtain it without losing access to its location is not straightforward, which is why we guide you step-by-step through the entire procedure.
Our Simone Marcocchi, who wrote the review for us, embarked on the conquest of one of the most important and desired in-game items. Here's how he did it
What is the Everice Blade and why is it worth getting?
Before talking about "how," it's important to understand "why." The Everice Blade is an epic sword that grants +45 ice damage and +10% ice resistance, also enhancing the Ice Lance (Cryomancy) spell and amplifying the Freezing effect on enemies.
For a direct comparison: the game's basic sword inflicts 30 slashing damage, while the Everice Blade offers 45 ice damage in addition to the resistance bonus, making it a significant upgrade, especially for those who want to improve combat effectiveness from the early hours.
The ice mechanism in Fatekeeper is particularly interesting from a tactical point of view. Freezing accumulates on enemies until they are completely frozen (indicated by white color), after which a charged Heavy Attack can shatter them. Be careful, however: not all enemies are vulnerable to freezing, and bosses cannot be frozen, only slowed.
Where to find the Everice Blade: The Reservoir Ruins
The Everice Blade is located in the area called Forgotten Halls. The starting point is the Belvedere in the area, from which you descend towards the Ruins Reservoir. If you have already visited the area previously, you can return using the map's fast travel system.
Exploring the Reservoir Ruins, just before reaching the Atrium, players will witness a short cutscene where the enemy leader passes through a portal, before having to face a wave of goblins. Once eliminated, looking to the left, there is a closed gate: it is the secret room that holds the Everice Blade, accessible only by completing a jumping puzzle.
The fragile structure: the most common mistake to avoid
This is the critical point that many players underestimate, and which can make it impossible to reach the sword without reloading your save.
In the Reservoir Ruins area, there is an architectural structure that serves as cover and a path to the secret room. The problem is that just one misplaced sword strike can bring it down. But it gets worse: if you run out of the main area to eliminate enemies in the open, archers and stone throwers will chase them to that structure and smash it with their ranged attacks, making the path inaccessible.
The correct strategy is as follows:
- Do not run out into the open after passing through the initial portal.
- Go down the stairs and face enemies one by one, in a controlled manner.
- Take cover under the structure as soon as enemies start responding with ranged attacks.
- In this way, the part of the structure leading to the secret room will remain intact.
The area is full of enemies, including archers and shielded opponents. It is advisable to be prepared for a challenging encounter, especially if you try to reach the sword in the early stages of the game.
Once safe, you can collect several useful items in the area before proceeding to the exact location of the Everice Blade.
Recommended build to maximize its potential
Once you have the sword, the work is not over: to unleash its full potential, it is important to build the character in a way that is consistent with its ice damage. The main advice is to focus on Skill 3, which further increases damage and, most importantly, attack speed — a combination that, together with the ice's slowing effect on enemies, creates a devastating synergy.
It is important to remember that longswords and two-handed axes are slow but lethal weapons, so those who choose a build with the Everice Blade must ensure they have enough Stamina and Health to withstand blows while charging an attack.
Fatekeeper on Gamesurf: everything you need to know about the game
If you want to delve deeper into the title before diving into the hunt for the Everice Blade, Gamesurf has published an extensive analysis of the game. According to the editorial team, Fatekeeper is an action game that surprises with its combat system and represents one of the most interesting Early Access titles of the year, with a very competitive entry price. Of course, if you want to get a more complete idea, we refer you directly to our review
Fatekeeper is expected to remain in Early Access for at least 18 months: the full version will not arrive before the end of 2027. The current build lasts about two hours, while version 1.0 will be around fifteen hours. An excellent time, therefore, to enter the game at a reduced price and already dominate it with the strongest weapon available.
