Publisher Shoreline Games and developer Metis Creative have announced Wane, a tactical turn-based RPG with roguelike mechanics and an industrial noir setting. Wane follows the story of Declan Wayne, an archaeologist who once discovered the ruins of Ravelle, home to lost civilizations. Wayne's greed led him to touch something he never should have, which compromised his mental health.

Wayne spent the following years searching for a cure, but found nothing useful… except returning to Ravelle. Only descending into the heart of the ruins could allow him to set things right, before it was too late. However, Ravelle teems with horrors born from the archaeologist's own mind: to face them, Wayne must rely on a team of mercenaries expert in the occult.

Wane Gameplay

In terms of gameplay, this translates into assembling a team and undertaking a series of expeditions into a large dungeon, with progression dictated by roguelike mechanics that allow players to push further and further in each subsequent journey. Team members are characterized by different personalities and abilities; in turn-based battles, they risk being wounded or dying, so attention must be paid. Expeditions will be funded with the loot recovered each time.

When and Where Wane Will Be Released

Developer Metis Creative is a Turkish studio that previously focused on tabletop RPGs (they are the authors of the Historica Arcanum series). Wane will be released on PC, via Steam, but currently does not yet have a launch window. A demo of the game will be released in 2027.
