Quake: Dawn of the Machine Released by Surprise

In 1996, after creating monumental titles like Wolfenstein 3D and the first two Doom games, id Software released what would become another milestone for the FPS genre: Quake. In the following years, this famous shooter would receive numerous expansions, some also created by third parties like MachineGames. It is precisely the Swedish studio that has signed Quake's latest new additional content, which was launched by surprise to celebrate the game's 30th anniversary.

Dawn of the Machine is a free update for the remastered version of Quake, available for download for all who own the game on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 (the latter via backward compatibility), PC (Xbox PC, Steam), or Game Pass. It's a major update, featuring a campaign composed of 19 new maps and much more.

Among the new features of Dawn of the Machine are a completely new soundtrack, a map for Deathmatch mode, assorted enemy and weapon variants, a hub that provides access to never-before-seen development resources and content, and three new achievements.
