Game designer Steph Thirion became famous in 2009 when his puzzle game Eliss arrived on mobile devices. A year later, Thirion announced his new solo project, Faraway: a title still in the puzzle game genre, but leaning more towards arcade. The game follows the journey of a dying star through the universe, which must create constellations to survive, and it remained in a kind of limbo for a very long time, until today.

Thirion, along with publisher Annapurna Interactive, announces the release of Faraway, available starting today, November 5th, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox PC) and accompanied by its launch trailer. In our opinion, Faraway works and is entertaining, but the star's journey is heavily hampered by a structure that might have been fine in Eliss's time, but much less so today. We delve deeper into this in our Faraway review.
