Pixar returns to explore the relationship between humans and nature with a premise as curious as it is effective. In Jumpers - A Leap Among Animals, Mabel tries to prevent the transformation of a wooded area she is deeply connected to, relying on technology that allows her to live among animals through the body of a robotic beaver.

The initial idea suggests a classic ecological adventure, but the film soon chooses a less predictable path. Behind the defense of the forest emerges a reflection on individual responsibilities, mistakes made in the name of a good cause, and the difficulty of distinguishing what is right from what is simply convenient.

A Story That Surprises Multiple Times

The strength of Jumpers lies in its ability to continuously shift perspective without losing lightness. The animal characters provide some of the most amusing moments of the entire work, while several human figures reveal unexpected nuances that enrich the narrative.

The pace always remains lively and the humor works even with adults. Some twists appear less convincing, and not all ideas are fully explored, but the overall package maintains freshness and personality. Visually, Pixar once again confirms its excellence. The quality of the animation elevates a film that may not become one of the Studio's great classics, yet stands out for its originality and heart.

Native 4K production and its master used for the creation of this technically reference 2K version for the video part. Image format 1.85:1 (1920 x 1080/23.97p), AVC/MPEG-4 encoding on a dual-layer BD-50. Solid images, rich colors, and prominent elements even in the background make for a high-level spectacle; the blacks are also convincing.

The Italian Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 track (754 kbps) manages to support the visuals and is worth listening to via a Home Theater system. For a full rendition and to hear the original voice cast, there are 3 tracks: DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 (24 bit), DTS-HD High Resolution 5.1 (24 bit), and even a Dolby Digital 2.0 (320 kbps). The first (and only) lossless 8-channel track is to be preferred for its dynamics and stage presence, both front and rear, capable of creating a very cinematic scene.

The extras for Jumpers offer some short focuses on the film's development, from the creation of the animal characters to the construction of the world of Beaverton, as well as a fun collection of bloopers. The most interesting content is the nearly 20 minutes of deleted scenes, which allow viewers to discover sequences and ideas excluded from the final cut. Italian subtitles are included.
