New World to shut down in one year: the shutdown date
And some, half-jokingly, are stepping forward to buy the game

Who would have thought that the trajectory of New World (or New World: Aeternum, if you prefer the more recent designation) would come to such a sad conclusion, after a dazzling start a few years ago? Last October, Amazon's MMORPG announced the end of support, a decision that players did not take well. The New World team has updated us on the matter, announcing the date of the server shutdown.
When New World shuts down
New World: Aeternum will go offline on all platforms on January 31, 2027: after that date, it will no longer be possible to play. The statement clarifies that the title has been withdrawn from sale, so it can no longer be purchased; however, if you have purchased it recently, it might be possible to get a refund, but you must contact the store. Curiously, microtransactions have not yet been deactivated; this will happen on July 20.
If you own New World in your game library, you can, of course, reinstall it and continue playing until the date indicated above, so for just over a year. Please note that there will be no new updates: any future patches will only concern stability and bug fixes.

New World has a "purchase offer"
Meanwhile, Alistair McFarlane, director of Facepunch Studios (the creators of Rust), half-jokingly made an offer of $25 million to Amazon to buy New World. McFarlane added that games "should never die": what do you think about that?
