Legendary Pictures Revives Buck Rogers for the Big Screen
A new take on the icon that laid the groundwork for modern science fiction

The hero who taught the world to dream of the future is about to reawaken. Legendary Pictures has officially announced the return of Buck Rogers, a legendary figure in science fiction, entrusting the new screenplay to Zeb Wells, a brilliant writer known for his sharp humor and visionary streak in Deadpool & Wolverine and Marvel Zombies.
Left in limbo for years after the studio acquired the rights, the project is finally entering a new phase. Wells will be responsible for bringing the pilot back to the 21st century, who, born in 1928 from the mind of Philip Francis Nowlan, awoke five hundred years in the future to fight tyrants and technocracies in a machine-dominated world.
The Aesthetic That Defined an Entire Visual Language

Considered the true father of modern science fiction, Buck Rogers left an indelible mark: from the first sci-fi comic in 1929 to the radio and television series that anticipated the imagery of Star Wars and The Matrix. His aesthetic of laser guns, space suits, and cities suspended in the sky defined an entire visual language.
With Wells at the creative helm, Legendary aims to blend the pulp irony of its origins with a contemporary sensibility, transforming Buck Rogers into a new hero for new generations. After almost a century, the future might welcome him back.
