Jennifer Lawrence in Space for Zach Cregger's The Flood
The director recounted pitching the idea to Spielberg immediately after developing it

There's something profoundly unsettling about the way the engaging Ad Astra with Brad Pitt portrays space: not just as an infinitely hostile place but as a void in which humans appear irremediably alone. And it seems to be from this distressing sensation that Zach Cregger developed the core idea for The Flood, wondering what experience could be even more terrifying than being lost in the cosmos. The result will be the sci-fi film starring Jennifer Lawrence, slated for 2028.
Lawrence will be at the center of the project by a director who has had one success after another with Barbarian, Weapons and the more recent Resident Evil. Cregger is writing and directing, while Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment are among the producers. Steven Spielberg is participating as executive producer through Amblin Entertainment.
A Signal Arrives from Deep Space

Cregger recounted pitching the idea to Spielberg immediately after developing it. The project was acquired just two days later, paving the way for an original story without a pre-existing saga. The plot remains secret. According to a report by Dead Central, Lawrence could play an officer engaged with her crew in following a mysterious transmission from a remote planet. The expedition would lead to the discovery of an alien artifact capable of altering the perception of reality.
The rumor has not received official confirmation, but it suggests a possible evolution of the initial idea: from the terror of the void to something that, in the void, shouldn't be there at all.
