F1: The Movie - According to the Director, There's Room for a Sequel
Jerry Bruckheimer has long been in favor of expanding the film's narrative universe

The surprising success of F1 immediately put the spotlight on a possible return to the track. After surpassing $631 million at the global box office and marking Brad Pitt's best career result, the film produced by Apple Studios seems destined to become a true franchise.
Joseph Kosinski has given new impetus to the speculations. Present at the Academy's Governors Awards - the honorary Oscars - the director revealed in an interview with Variety that the creative team is already “imagining the next chapter” dedicated to driver Sonny Hayes and the Apex GP racing team. A comment that adds to previous statements by the great producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who has long been in favor of expanding the film's narrative universe.

The project would face the obstacle of a anything but simple schedule. Kosinski and screenwriter Ehren Kruger are also involved in the development of Top Gun 3, a title for which an advanced concept already exists. The priority between the two super-productions has not yet been decided and could influence the timing of both films.
Despite the uncertainty, commercial interest remains very high: for Apple Studios, F1 represents a winning investment and a rare opportunity to consolidate a franchise with great international appeal. At the moment, the feeling is that the sequel is more a question of “when” than “if”.
