Eric Dane, the American actor known to the general public for roles that have defined TV series over the last twenty years, has passed away at just 53 years old. The actor was battling ALS, a neurodegenerative disease he had publicly discussed in the spring of 2025.

Dane became famous thanks to Grey's Anatomy, where he played the charismatic surgeon Mark Sloan, nicknamed "McSteamy". In subsequent years, he solidified his career with very different characters such as Cal Jacobs in the HBO series Euphoria and Commander Tom Chandler in the spectacular dystopian series The Last Ship.

Among the most notable titles are X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), where he played Jamie Madrox / Multiple Man in the third chapter of the mutant saga; Marley & Me (2008) alongside Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston; Valentine's Day (2010), Burlesque (2010) with Cher and Christina Aguilera; Redeeming Love (2022). More recently, he also appeared in Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024), the fourth chapter of the saga with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

According to reports, the actor passed away surrounded by the affection of his family: his wife Rebecca and daughters Billie and Georgia. During his illness, he chose to speak out to raise public awareness about ALS, supporting research and associations committed to studying the disease.
