Filming for Twilight of the Dead has concluded with Kate Beckinsale starring in the new film inspired by a story by George A. Romero. The project originated from a story developed by George A. Romero before his death and aims to conclude the cinematic journey the director began with Night of the Living Dead.

Beckinsale secured the role after Milla Jovovich's departure, who was initially involved in the project. The direction also changed during development: after Brad Anderson handed over the reins, the film was entrusted to the Israeli brothers Doron and Yoav Paz, best known for the horror films Jeruzalem and The Golem, as well as the historical thriller Plan A. The screenplay was constructed from material left by the master Romero.

Remembering the beloved father of zombies

Among the most significant presences behind the scenes is Greg Nicotero, called upon to handle special effects and prosthetic makeup. His involvement creates a direct link to Romero's cinema, with whom he had previously worked. Nicotero is also one of the figures who has most contributed to the representation of zombies on the small screen thanks to The Walking Dead.

The story is set in a world now devastated by the presence of the living dead and follows the last humans grappling with a reality in which even survival has become a matter of power. Broadly speaking, it doesn't seem to deviate much from the plot of Land of the Dead. Alongside Beckinsale in the cast are Betty Gabriel, Abigail London, and John D. Hickman. Awaiting the release date in cinemas.
