Over ten years after its theatrical release, Edge of Tomorrow remains one of the most successful sci-fi action films of its generation. Based on the Japanese novel All You Need Is Kill, the film follows Major William Cage (Tom Cruise), an officer unprepared for combat who, during the war against the invading alien Mimics, becomes trapped in a time loop that forces him to relive the same battle endlessly.

The brilliant narrative intuition allows the story to constantly shift perspective, transforming each death into a new starting point. Cruise convinces in the journey that transforms Cage from a frightened opportunist to a decisive fighter, while Emily Blunt makes her mark as the legendary heroine Rita Vrataski.

A 4K that Enhances the Original Cinematography

This new Warner amaray edition re-releases the film in Ultra HD with a master derived from the original 2K Digital Intermediate. Image format 2.39:1 (3840 x 2160/23.97p), HEVC encoding on a triple-layer BD-100. HDR-10 offers improved control of highlights and a more effective rendition in the numerous night sequences, with a generally more stable and detailed image compared to the included 2K Blu-ray.

The Italian audio sector is less brilliant, still relying on Dolby Digital 5.1 (640 kbps). The original English track remains the best choice due to the presence of Dolby TrueHD 7.1 + 11 ATMOS objects (24 bit), capable of enhancing the furious battles and the presence of alien creatures.

The extras remain housed on the included Blu-ray and include deleted scenes, insights into the Mimics, and an interesting documentary dedicated to the making of the film. For those who did not purchase the previous steelbook release, this new UHD Warner release represents the ideal opportunity to acquire this sci-fi gem, among the best of the last decade.
