Could Nintendo Switch 2 See a Price Increase?

Nintendo Switch 2 had a very satisfactory launch: since last June 5, in fact, the new machine from the house of Mario has sold over 10 million units in the first 4 months, exceeding expectations and leading management to increase sales estimates for the fiscal year from 15 to 19 million.

But while the close of the fiscal year is still over two months away, the big N might have to contend with market realities, a reality that currently speaks of increased RAM prices due to its use by the AI industry and, in the United States, to tariffs and the whims of the current administration.

Especially in the USA, therefore, the situation could change: according to analysts at Niko Partners, Nintendo would no longer be able to easily absorb the market increases it has so far tried to ignore by keeping the selling price fixed at its launch price of $449. The hypothesis of a price hike was, moreover, floated by Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa himself during an interview with Kyoto Shinbun.

According to analysts, the first move could be to withdraw the "vanilla" consoles from the American market to keep only the $500 bundles with Mario Kart World on sale, but sooner or later an upward adjustment would be inevitable. And in cases like these, it cannot be ruled out that the increase will affect the console globally and not just in the New Continent.

We'll have to wait and see...
