Christopher Nolan and That '80s Film He Won't Direct
The denial comes as curiosity grows for the master's next project

In recent days, Christopher Nolan's name had been linked to a supposed remake of Blue Thunder, the 1983 action and sci-fi film centered on an advanced military helicopter used to maintain order on the streets of Los Angeles. The director himself definitively put an end to the rumors, dismissing the matter with irony during an interview with The Telegraph: he doesn't know where the rumor originated and added that he has always preferred Airwolf (initially known as Supercopter in Italy).
The denial comes as curiosity grows for the filmmaker's next project after The Odyssey, set to hit theaters on July 17, 2026. The technological nature and surveillance themes present in Blue Thunder had fueled hypotheses of a possible interest from the director, but his words seem to rule out any involvement.
An Answer That Ends All Rumors
During the same interview, Nolan also reiterated his rather unusual relationship with technology. The director confirmed that he does not own a smartphone and does not use social networks, explaining that he prefers those moments of inactivity that many spend on their phones to reflect and develop new ideas.
A philosophy that, in his opinion, represents an important component of his creative process and often keeps him unaware of the numerous online speculations surrounding his future cinematic endeavors.
