Amplitude Studios announced during Gamescom's Opening Night Live that HUMANKIND 2, the sequel to the acclaimed 2021 turn-based strategy game, which you can find our review of here, will arrive on PC in 2027.
The sequel maintains the historical framework of the original chapter — founding cities, developing technologies, forging alliances, commanding armies, and guiding your people from early settlements to the modern age — enriching it with unprecedented progression systems, new features, improved graphics, a more modern interface, and various gameplay refinements, resulting from community feedback and Amplitude's 15 years of experience in the strategy genre.

One of the most profoundly revised aspects is cultural evolution: in each new era, it will be possible to adopt a culture that enriches the identity of your civilization, drawing from rich progression trees to unlock exclusive customs. Combining these influences gives rise to unique civilizations, with a level of customization and historical continuity never before seen in the series. Each evolution also offers the possibility to follow the historical path or deviate from it to write your own alternative timeline, enriched by new populations from around the world — from the Saqqaq to the Etruscans, passing through the Scythians.
Climate change also plays a central strategic role: over the ages, biomes transform, requiring players to adapt cities and economy, protect vital resources, and carefully evaluate the long-term consequences of overly rapid growth.
As with other titles in its catalog, Amplitude Studios will continue to develop HUMANKIND 2 together with the community through the Amplifiers platform, where members can contribute to development, earn exclusive rewards, and receive direct updates from the team.
To thank fans for the support received for the first chapter, the studio has also released Humankind Revived, a celebratory video dedicated to the game. From today until September 8, 2026, new players can also purchase the original HUMANKIND with a 90% discount on Steam.
