Chris Evans and Captain America's Return to the Scene
The hypothesis would allow him to don the beloved superhero's suit once again
Although he had said goodbye to the character in Avengers: Endgame (2019), Chris Evans was spotted at the Toronto Film Festival in surprising physical shape, very similar to his years as a Marvel superhero.
Rumors have been circulating for months that Evans will return in Avengers: Doomsday, the chapter that promises to be the most ambitious in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to rumors, the film will see the character grappling with the consequences of his time travel to reunite with Peggy Carter. A choice that, apparently, would have caused the dreaded Incursions, rifts in reality destined to destroy the Multiverse.

The great antagonist would be Doctor Doom, who would have targeted Steve Rogers, transforming the hero, a symbol of loyalty and sacrifice, into a target to be eliminated. No longer leader of the Avengers, but an unwitting detonator of a cosmic catastrophe: a narrative arc that would give new depth to the character.
Outside of Marvel, Evans has alternated successes like Knives Out with less successful projects including Lightyear and Ghosted, with films like Materialists and Sacrifice on the way, his career is seeking new life. It's almost a given that his return wielding the vibranium shield could bring him back to the center of the world stage, and it's easy to imagine how much it would be welcomed by fans. Mark your calendars for Christmas 2026.
