Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet star in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, one of the most beautiful films of the 21st century. The feature film tells a beautiful love story, but without excessive romanticism or too many emotions. Behind the camera is Michel Gondry (Be Kind Rewind, Kidding), while the screenplay (awarded an Oscar) is the work of Charlie Kaufman (known for writing Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, and directing Anomalisa and I'm Thinking of Ending Things).
Joel and Clementine seem in love, but – when their relationship ends – the girl decides to have some memories removed with a scientific experiment. Joel, after discovering this, decides to do the same. A bittersweet story that viewers can discover through the protagonists' memories.

Marriage Story, 2019

Love isn't always "roses and flowers." Marriage Story offers a series of harsh truths and the effects of the end of a romantic relationship. This feature film was directed by Noah Baumbach (the director of White Noise, The Meyerowitz Stories, Greenberg). Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson play the protagonists, delivering two extraordinary performances.
What is the plot? Charlie is an acclaimed Off-Broadway director, while Nicole is an actress. This couple is going through marital problems and, to get out of this situation, they decide to follow a path with a therapist. When the woman is offered a role in the pilot episode of a new television series, she decides to move to Los Angeles and leave her husband. The spouses are aware that they need to confront each other, but they don't know where to start or how to manage this situation.
TV Series to Watch on Valentine's Day 2026
Would you prefer to watch a television series available for streaming? Here are our recommendations!
Modern Love (2 seasons, ongoing), from 2019 – Available on Prime Video

Modern Love is a tender, moving, and funny tribute to love and romance. This anthology television series (episodes with different plots and characters), available on Prime Video, explores love in its many forms, from romance to sensuality.
Based on a weekly column in The New York Times, Modern Love allows viewers to discover some realistic stories, including the casual (but almost providential) meeting between Michael and Paula. The cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Tina Fey, John Slattery, Dev Patel, Catherine Keener, Cristin Milioti, and Kit Harington, among others.
How I Met Your Mother (9 seasons), from 2005 to 2014 – Disney+

"Kids, I'm going to tell you an incredible story: the story of how I met your mother": with this phrase begins one of the most beloved sitcoms. I'm talking about How I Met Your Mother (208 episodes distributed over nine seasons). The television series tells the social and romantic vicissitudes of five friends. Season after season, we discover the stories of Ted (a single architect in New York), Robin (a Canadian television journalist who arrived in the Big Apple), Barney (an incurable playboy), Marshall, and Lily (the long-standing couple, the two have been together since college).
The episodes dedicated to Valentine's Day are the following:
- Desperation Day - season 6, episode 16;
- The Drunk Train – season 7, episode 16.
Almost all episodes, however, have a common thread: love. In fact, amidst laughter and tears, we discover all the dynamics that emerge within and outside the group. Here you can find our special for the twentieth anniversary!

Friends (10 seasons), from 1994 to 2004 – available on HBO Max

11 years before the arrival of How I Met Your Mother, another sitcom set in New York captivated viewers. Friends, consisting of 10 seasons, revolves around a group of six friends: Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler, and Joey. For Valentine's Day, I recommend watching the following episodes:
- The One with the Candy Hearts – season 1, episode 14;
- The One with Unagi – season 6, episode 17.

The End of the F***ing World (2 seasons), from 2017 to 2019 – available on Netflix

A dark and grotesque comedy that tells the story of two seventeen-year-olds. James, marked by a painful event from his past, is convinced he is a psychopath and is looking for someone to kill. Alyssa is a rebellious, moody, and dissatisfied girl. The two protagonists decide to run away together. Over time, a strong bond will emerge.
The cast is led by Jessica Barden (Lambs of God, Penny Dreadful) and Alex Lawther (The Last Duel, Black Mirror, Andor, The French Dispatch). The series, based on Charles Forsman's comic book, is available for streaming on Netflix.
Bridgerton (3 seasons, ongoing), from 2020 – available on Netflix

Currently consisting of three seasons, Bridgerton is a television series set in the world of London's high society during the Regency Era (the period between 1811 and 1820).
Each season, focusing on one of the Bridgerton siblings, is self-contained. The first cycle of episodes tells the story of Daphne, the eldest daughter who wants to find true love. The charming and rebellious Duke of Hastings captures Daphne's attention. This brilliant television series, based on Julia Quinn's novels, explores a timeless theme: the search for true love.
The cast includes Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Luke Newton, Ruth Gemmell, Florence Hunt, Claudia Jessie, and Luke Thompson.
Sex Education (4 seasons), from 2019 to 2023 – available on Netflix

Sex Education is a television series that talks about sex and adolescent "dramas." This unmissable teen comedy brings to the small screen the joys and sorrows that characterize a very particular phase of developmental age (the transition from childhood to adulthood). Sex Education – free from moralizing – speaks, authentically and playfully, about sexuality, which is an aspect of love and romance.
Otis Milburn is a shy British teenager, son of a nationally renowned sex therapist, who, along with his best friend Eric, attends Moordale High School. Having spent his entire life listening to his mother's sessions, the boy is an "expert" in relationship problems and sex.
The rebellious Maeve understands Otis's therapeutic abilities and proposes that he become the students' "sex therapist." Otis, Maeve, and Eric then help the other kids (for a fee). The cast includes Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells, and Kedar Williams-Stirling.
