The Plot of The Paper: What is the series about?
The Paper takes us to Toledo, Ohio, where a documentary crew, the same one that immortalized the events of the Dunder Mifflin employees, now turns its spotlight on The Truth Teller, an old, decaying local newspaper. The goal? To chronicle the at times desperate and at times hilarious attempt to bring it back to life through the work of volunteers. Amidst stubborn editors, improvised reporters, and creative tensions, the series moves with its usual satirical vein to explore a new work ecosystem.

The Paper, connections to The Office
Although it features new characters and a new setting, The Paper is part of the same narrative universe as The Office. This is demonstrated not only by the inherited mockumentary style but also by the return of Oscar Nuñez as Oscar Martinez, the long-time accountant at the Scranton branch. Furthermore, behind the camera, we find many names familiar to long-time fans, including Greg Daniels, Jennifer Celotta, Paul Lieberstein, Dave Rogers, and Jeffrey Blitz. It is therefore more of a spiritual spin-off than a direct one, capable of offering a new perspective with the same DNA.
The Cast of The Paper: Actors and Characters
The main cast of The Paper is rich and varied, with talented performers who will bring the chaotic Toledo newsroom to life.
- Domhnall Gleeson: known for Ex Machina and About Time, leads the cast in a central role.
- Sabrina Impacciatore: the Italian actress, previously seen in The White Lotus, is ready to make her mark in this American production as well.
- Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, Ramona Young, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Tim Key, and Eric Rahill complete the editorial team.
- Among the recurring faces are Tracy Letts, Molly Ephraim, Nancy Lenehan, Allan Havey, and Mo Welch. As anticipated, Oscar Nuñez returns in the role of Oscar Martinez, the only direct link to The Office.
When is The Paper released in Italy?
The Paper will debut in Italy on January 26, 2026, available for streaming on NOW and airing on Sky Serie, with all episodes released simultaneously. Additionally, during the same period, The Office will also be available on Sky and NOW from January 17, with all nine seasons available on demand.
