If you're among those who fondly remember Strixhaven: School of Mages, or if you're one of the many captivated by the recent success of the dark academia trend (or even if you're a fan of a certain saga starring a young wizard…), you'll be happy to know that the next Magic: The Gathering expansion will bring players (and collectors) right back to those atmospheres. Secrets of Strixhaven is set to arrive on April 24th, reopening the doors of Strixhaven University, the most renowned academy of magical arts in the entire Multiverse.

Serialized Emeritus of Ideation always speaks English

Among the most interesting cards in Secrets of Strixhaven is the double rainbow foil serialized Emeritus of Ideation, featuring an illustration by Mark Poole, an old-style frame, and a powerful new design that makes it an ideal cornerstone for any collection. This version of Emeritus of Ideation will only be found in Collector Boosters, but regardless of the country of purchase and localization, the text on the card will always be in English (so it will be possible to find it even in Italy, but the card will be in English).

Play Boosters and Collector Boosters take us to the Mystical Archive

With one Mystical Archive card present in every Play Booster (and 3 Mystical Archive cards in every Collector Booster), get ready to discover (or rediscover) a long list of spells from none other than Magic's glorious history, such as the powerful and famous Force of Will. Furthermore, for every Mystical Archive card, there is a special Japanese Mystical Archive version with alternative art and frames. These will be available in Japanese language Play Boosters and in Collector Boosters in any language: Japanese Mystical Archive cards will always feature Japanese text.

Old Dragons cross into Borderless

Secrets of Strixhaven will also include a series of new Borderless cards among Planeswalkers, Dragons, and Lands. The borderless Elder Dragons are perfectly suited to lead your latest Commander Deck, combining Strixhaven's deep worldbuilding with epic illustrations. These cards will be found in Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, in foil and non-foil versions.

There's a novel to get you ready

While waiting for April 24th, the day Secrets of Strixhaven officially becomes available in stores, you can dive into its settings early with Strixhaven: Omens of Chaos, the novel written by Seanan McGuire, an author who has won both Hugo and Nebula awards. The story follows a group of Strixhaven students on their quest to find their place in the vast realm of the Multiverse. You can read (in English) the first chapter here and pre-order the volume on Amazon, releasing on April 7th.
