Hugh Laurie Returns to John le Carré with A Legacy of Spies
The series will be inspired by John le Carré's 2017 novel

John le Carré's narrative universe is set to return to the small screen with a new production that will bring back some of the most famous characters in espionage literature. At the center of the project will be Hugh Laurie, chosen to play "Control", a key figure in the British secret service.
For the actor, this is an ideal return to the genre that gave him one of his most appreciated performances in recent years with The Night Manager, although this time the role will be very different.
George Smiley Returns to Action

The series will be inspired by A Legacy of Spies, a novel published by John le Carré in 2017, and will also incorporate elements from The Spy Who Came in from the Cold. The result will be a new chapter set in the celebrated narrative universe of the British writer.
Alongside Laurie will be Matthew Macfadyen in the role of George Smiley, the legendary agent who helped define the modern espionage novel. Far from traditional action heroes, Smiley stands out for his intuition, analytical skills, and investigative patience.
The adaptation aims to recover precisely this dimension of espionage, with fewer chases, less spectacle, and more intrigue. A formula that has made le Carré's works a benchmark for the genre and that could find new space on television thanks to one of the most beloved characters in his bibliography.
