Will The Outlast Trials have PvP invasions like Dark Souls?

The Outlast Trials is the latest installment in a horror series that boasts a significant following, born a dozen years ago at the hands of Canadian studio Red Barrels Inc. This title introduced the novelty of cooperative multiplayer to the saga, with players having to collaborate to overcome the terrible trials that await them. There have also long been rumors of PvP multiplayer, which may soon become a reality.

The Outlast Trials - Invasion

Red Barrels shared the teaser for Invasion, which will be the main feature of the title's next update. It is not explicitly explained what it is, but the reference to Dark Souls-esque invasions (if you'll allow the expression) seems quite clear.
