TimeSplitters Rewind finally playable
After 13 years of development, the beta is launched

TimeSplitters, the FPS originally developed in 2000 for PS2 and Nintendo GameCube by Free Radical Design [the studio that definitively closed 2 years ago] is back, or almost.
The title TimeSplitters Rewind is not new to the pages of specialized press: we at GameSurf last talked about it in 2017, but it's a project that dates back to 2013: a fan-made remake that aims to bring the original chapter back to screens, revised and adapted for modern technologies.
"...modern technologies" which, of course, have repeatedly changed over 12 years, evidently slowing down development and leading to continuous updates, corrections, and restarts. But it seems we're there: the team, operating under the Inder logo, has made the TimeSplitters Rewind Early Access Beta available on the project's official website.

Although the team prefaces by specifying that the software currently released is "buggy and unfinished," the final game experience is complete and includes the entire original title's Campaign mode playable in both single-player and multiplayer, 20 Arcade modes, 28 Maps, 91 characters, and over 40 weapons available for online Multiplayer with up to 10 players. The graphics do not use the resources of the original TimeSplitters but have been redone from scratch, so there are immediately visible aesthetic differences, but the core and substance seem to match.

Currently, TimeSplitters Rewind is obviously accessible on PC: in the past, the project was rumored for PS4, so it's possible that announcements for next-gen consoles may arrive soon.
