Splitgate: Arena Reloaded Updates with Arena Royale

Developer 1047 Games announces the new update for Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, namely patch 2.2, which will be released in two days, on Thursday, January 22. This shooter is the sequel to Splitgate, the game "where Halo meets Portal" that saw a peak in popularity a few years ago. Arena Reloaded was born last month from the ashes of Splitgate 2, but the initial impact was not the best, so there's a great need for some juicy new content.

Arena Royale

This juicy new content could be called Arena Royale, the game mode that will debut with patch 2.2. As the name suggests, it's the meeting point between battle royale and arena shooter: it features the "only one will remain" mechanics of the first genre, combined with the more frantic gameplay of the second. In Arena Royale, 24 players face off, divided into six teams of four members each.

If even one of the four members stays alive, the others can respawn, at least until the last cycle of the match, when death becomes permanent. Arena Royale takes place in a single biome, chosen by the players: the location is deliberately small, so as not to be too sprawling. The pace of the action is the cornerstone of the experience, and all other elements have been modeled accordingly: in particular, loot and power-ups are designed to be usable "on the fly," without slowing down the rest too much.
