Saw XI Returns to Its Roots: Jigsaw Back in the Spotlight
The clarifying meeting during the recent Sundance Film Festival

The future of the Saw XI saga is taking a clear direction and, for many fans, probably a reassuring one after past production halts. With the franchise moving under the wing of Blumhouse Productions, its original creators, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, are also returning to the forefront, involved in the development of the eleventh installment.
During a meeting at the Sundance Film Festival, on the occasion of a celebratory screening of the first Saw, the duo clarified what the soul of the new film will be. The stated goal is one: to bring the series back to its roots, once again placing Jigsaw and his unsettling moral philosophy at the center.
New Adventure Linked to Jigsaw's Past
Wan was clear in dispelling fans' fears: the new chapter will not follow the path of the Spiral spin-off, but will return to explore what truly makes Saw disturbing. Not just traps and gore, but a constant, almost omnipresent presence, capable of generating psychological tension and authentic fear. In other words, a Saw closer to the original than to the more recent chapters.
This return to origins, however, will not mean repetition. Wan and Whannell promise a film that knows how to respect the legacy of the saga, while introducing new and unexpected ideas. A delicate gamble, but potentially decisive for relaunching one of the longest-running horror franchises of the last twenty years.
