RoboCop – The TV Series Is Finally in the Works

Amazon MGM Studios has officially greenlit a new series dedicated to RoboCop. Destined for Prime Video, the project will consist of eight episodes and will see the collaboration of Blumhouse Atomic Monster.

Peter Ocko (Lodge 49) will serve as the series' creative lead, while James Wan will executive produce alongside Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, and Ed Neumeier, co-creator and screenwriter of the original 1987 film. Neumeier's involvement suggests a desire to preserve the spirit of Paul Verhoeven's original work while updating its themes.

Plot details remain confidential for now, and it is not yet clear whether the series will tell a new version of Alex Murphy's origins or introduce new characters into the same narrative universe. According to Amazon, the project will revisit the reflections that made RoboCop famous, from the relationship between man and technology to the power of large corporations—themes more relevant than ever today.

The cinematic saga has recently returned to the spotlight, also thanks to the video game RoboCop: Rogue City, which was positively received by fans for its faithfulness to the original material. The new production now represents an attempt to bring the famous human-robot hybrid police officer back to the center of contemporary science fiction.
