Mortal Kombat 3 Already in the Works After Sequel's Success
Slater explained that the ending of the second film contains several clues about what could happen in the future

The success of Mortal Kombat II seems to have convinced Warner to look ahead. Although the third chapter has not yet been officially announced, screenwriter Jeremy Slater has confirmed that he is already working on the new story intended to continue the cinematic relaunch of the saga.
Interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter, Slater explained that the ending of the second film contains several clues about what could happen in the future of the Mortal Kombat universe. A detail that further reinforces the idea of an inevitable trilogy, especially after the excellent box office results of the new chapter.
Jeremy Slater Also Prepares an Original Horror Film

In parallel with his work on Mortal Kombat 3, the screenwriter is preparing to make his directorial debut with Summoner, an original horror film already approved by one of the major American studios.
Slater described the project as the most disturbing film he has ever written, anticipating a particularly extreme but also very entertaining horror. At the moment, details about the plot remain secret, while casting is reportedly already underway for filming scheduled for August.
For Slater, this is an important step after years spent working on franchises and high-budget productions. In the past, he was also close to a horror project produced by Atomic Monster, but it never reached the production phase.
Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat fans await the official announcement of the third film.
