Resident Evil - Full Trailer Anticipates a Wild Reboot

The new Resident Evil directed by Zach Cregger finally shows itself with its first official trailer. Produced by Sony Pictures, the film aims to distance itself from previous adaptations, offering a reinterpretation that is rooted in the imagery of the famous Capcom series, choosing a different path from the traditional zombie-dominated survival horror.

The images follow Bryan, played by Austin Abrams, a medical courier who finds himself caught up in a night destined to descend into chaos when an epidemic spreads uncontrollably. The trailer prefers to focus on the protagonist's tension and escape, avoiding openly showing the creatures that populate the film.

95 Minutes of Heart-Pounding Action Anticipated

Cregger himself explained that zombies will have limited space in the story. The goal was to exploit the "T" virus to imagine much more disturbing transformations, exploring its consequences on the human body and the surrounding environment. A choice that promises to offer a precise identity to the reboot and surprise even those who know the video game saga well.

The screenplay is co-written by Zach Cregger himself and Shay Hatten, an author already involved in the John Wick film series. Meanwhile, the listing published by the AMC chain confirms a runtime of 95 minutes, making this Resident Evil one of the shortest films in the franchise.

The debut in Italian cinemas, including IMAX, is scheduled for next September 17. After years of adaptations that have divided audiences and critics, the upcoming Resident Evil seems to want to break with the past, placing the epidemic at the center of the narrative rather than using it as a simple pretext for a zombie invasion.
