Back in 2009, the Nintendo Wii console had already established itself as a global success, but something was still missing: the revolutionary control system still showed its weaknesses, due to excessive imprecision in motion detection. To remedy the problem, the big N released the MotionPlus, a kind of additional peripheral to connect to the WiiMote controller, thus bringing its accuracy to acceptable levels.

But how to effectively promote the new peripheral? With a game designed specifically to exploit the capabilities of MotionPlus: Thus Wii Sports Resort was born, developed around the idea of using more precise movements in various sports disciplines. It was a successful expedient, from which a particularly suitable experience to enjoy with company emerged. Seventeen years later, that experience is re-proposed in an updated form.

Nintendo announces the release of Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, available from today, October 22, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. The return to Wuhu Island is characterized by many disciplines to tackle with friends (but also alone), with several novelties compared to the Wii era, although perhaps the formula could have been modernized better. We explain it well in our Sports Resort review.
