Raymond Gunn is a private investigator in a world that no longer seems to need detectives. The first trailer for Ray Gunn showcases the unique animated universe conceived by Brad Bird, where classic noir meets science fiction inspired by the imagery of the past.
The story unfolds in Metropia, an alternative city of the future to what might have been imagined in 1939. Humans and aliens coexist in a society transformed by technology, while Gunn, voiced by Sam Rockwell, finds himself embroiled in a murder investigation linked to Venus Nova, a media celebrity voiced by Scarlett Johansson.
A Human Detective in an Alien Metropolis
The project has been with Bird since the nineties. In the meantime, the director has made films such as The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille. The film retains the fundamental structure conceived at the time, despite undergoing modifications during development. The voice cast also includes Tom Waits, Alan Tudyk, Matt Berry, and Michelle Rodriguez.
Ray Gunn will debut in select cinemas in Italy on December 2, 2026, before arriving on Netflix on December 18.
