Batman in the DCU, James Gunn Confirms Strategy Change
The film will introduce Bruce Wayne to the DCU and feature his son Damian

James Gunn has admitted that the The Brave and the Bold project will not necessarily follow the plans outlined in 2023. The head of DC Studios confirmed the change by responding on Threads to a user who asked him if the approach to the new Batman had been modified. No additional details, at least for now.
The film will introduce Bruce Wayne to the DCU and feature his son Damian, destined to inherit the Robin mantle. Gunn had already clarified that some aspects of the story were still evolving, urging not to consider rumors about the future version of the Dark Knight as definitive.
DC Studios' Calendar Looks to 2028

The involvement of Andy Muschietti, director of The Flash, initially associated with directing The Brave and the Bold, also remains unclear. No change in director has been announced, just as there is no date for the start of filming.
Peter Safran has meanwhile confirmed plans for The Batman: Part II, starring Robert Pattinson, and for the animated film Dynamic Duo, both scheduled for 2028. The saga directed by Matt Reeves will continue to be independent of the DCU, allowing Gunn the opportunity to redefine the debut of the new Bruce Wayne without interfering with the continuity of The Batman.
