Peacemaker Season 2 – James Gunn Responds to Criticism
"Peacemaker was never a show designed to please everyone"

James Gunn doesn't shy away from controversy: after the divisive conclusion of the second season of Peacemaker, the director decided to address fans directly during a "watch party" on Threads.
Reactions to the finale were mixed, with many viewers disappointed by the absence of major plot twists. Gunn remained true to his vision: "Not everyone can love everything. I love the episode, but I understand that not everyone likes it, and that's okay," he stated. For Gunn, Peacemaker was never a show designed to please everyone.
A Series Less Easy to Love

The provocative tone, sharp sarcasm, and tormented characters are part of a project that aims more for internal evolution than fan service. "There are big revelations, even if not everyone recognizes them," he added, referring to the references to Checkmate and Salvation. The director then clarified some theories circulating online, such as the alleged presence of Blue Beetle or Rick Flag Sr.'s supposed hatred of metahumans. "Flag doesn't hate, he fears. And Peacemaker is just looking for redemption," he explained.
Gunn therefore remains consistent: Peacemaker doesn't seek easy applause, but tells the story of a broken anti-hero trying to rebuild himself. And perhaps precisely for this reason it divides, but continues to be talked about.
