Do you remember Wii Sports Resort? It was 2009 when Nintendo released this title on Wii, designed to make the most of motion controls, to the point that to play it was necessary to attach an additional component called Motion Plus to the Wiimote. Wii Sports Resort transports players to Wuhu Island, offering them a dozen sports disciplines to try their hand at. If you don't remember, we'll refresh your memory with our review.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort

17 years later, the sequel is coming: Nintendo has indeed announced Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, which will once again take us to Wuhu Island. Once again, we find 12 sports disciplines, but they are not exactly the same; below we provide the complete list. Instead of Wiimotes, Joy-Con 2s will obviously be used, but the principle remains the same. Players can create their own avatar, choosing between the classic Mii or the new Sportsmate.

Sports included in the game

  • Boxing
  • Table Tennis
  • Archery
  • Tennis
  • Volleyball
  • Bowling
  • Basketball
  • Golf
  • Thumb Wrestling
  • Skateboarding
  • Jet Skiing
  • Seaplane

To these is added jump rope, which is however seen more as an interlude than a discipline in itself.

Where and when Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will be released

The announcement trailer provides an overview of all disciplines. The game will certainly also offer multiplayer, but curiously Nintendo has not shared any information about it. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will be released on October 22, 2026, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
