Nintendo Sales: Switch 2 Over 26 Million, Mario Kart at 16 Million
While Switch 1 inches closer to PlayStation 2's record

Nintendo has updated its hardware and software sales data, providing us with the overall results up to September 30, 2026. In recent months, the performance of the Switch 2 console has seen a slight decline: partly because the summer period is historically a bit slow, and partly due to the price increase which certainly didn't help. On the software front, there were no major surprises.
Nintendo Switch 2 Hardware Sales
According to the official website, as of September 30, Nintendo Switch 2 sales have reached 26.35 million units: in the last quarter, 2.67 million consoles were sold. In the next quarter, thanks to the Christmas holidays, this figure will most likely increase. As for the first Nintendo Switch, 157.2 million units have been reached: the all-time record for a console, 160 million for PlayStation 2, is not too far off.
Nintendo Switch 2 Software Sales
On the software side, the website confirms the dominance of Mario Kart World, with its impressive 16.48 million copies sold: the ratio to the installed base is striking. Second, but a distant second, is Donkey Kong Bananza (5.05 million), followed by Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokopia (both at 4.04 million). Regarding new releases in the July-September quarter, Splatoon Raiders sold 2.42 million units, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave 1.34 million (but in just two weeks), and Super Mario Party Jamboree 1.28 million.
