Michael - First Trailer for the Biopic Dedicated to the King of Pop
A cinematic tribute that promises to once again resonate with the magic of a timeless icon

The King of Pop returns to life on the big screen. Lionsgate has unveiled the first trailer for Michael, a biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua that promises to tell the life, genius, and shadows of an absolute music icon like Michael Jackson like never before.
The video opens with a moment that will thrill fans: Michael alongside Quincy Jones (played by Kendrick Sampson) in the studio, ready to “start from the beginning.” From there, a whirlwind of images overwhelms the viewer — the child prodigy of the Jackson 5, the perfectionist of Thriller, the lights, the applause, but also the loneliness behind the legend — set to the notes of Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.
The Icon of Pop Music Lives On
Embodying the myth is Jaafar Jackson, Michael's nephew, chosen for his extraordinary resemblance and ability to capture his magnetic energy. Alongside him is a first-rate cast: Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as his mother Katherine, Miles Teller as lawyer John Branca, and Kat Graham as Diana Ross.
Director of works of a completely different genre such as Training Day and The Equalizer, Fuqua has stated that he wants to “capture the soul and tireless perfection” of the artist, rather than merely providing a typical biography. Written by John Logan and produced with the supervision of Michael Jackson's estate curators, it will arrive in theaters on April 24, 2026.
