Lumines Arise: A Look at the New Trailer

PlayStation and Enhance Games offer us a new trailer for Lumines Arise, to review the main features of the game. It starts with a refresher on the basics of gameplay: the goal is still the same, which is to form squares with blocks of the same type, but there's a new feature: the Burst mechanic, which allows you to "clear" a large portion of the screen of blocks in one go.

Lumines Arise Game Modes

The main single-player mode in Lumines Arise is called Journey and offers over 35 levels to tackle. Despite being a puzzle game, Enhance Games has managed to incorporate a story about self-discovery into Journey, but it's told very subtly, without dialogue. The gameplay experience is highly customizable: many parameters can be changed to make the journey more accessible.

Once Journey is completed, Survival mode is unlocked, where you have to face all levels again in succession, without interruption, a challenge that will be familiar to Lumines "purists". Enhance Games has also added missions to complete: there are training missions, useful for improving your skill, as well as Challenges, which offer an additional test.

Do you want to replay your favorite levels, perhaps in sequence? The studio has thought of you with Playlist mode, where you can juxtapose a series of levels of your choice, just like with songs. Multiplayer is also present: with Burst Battle you can compete with a friend, both locally and online. In this mode, the more squares you form, the more junk you send to your opponent, putting more pressure on them.

Time Attack, as the name suggests, requires you to finish within a time limit. In Dig Down mode, you have to clear the screen before rows of blocks coming from below fill it up. Quick Burst, on the other hand, is designed for quick games: it consists of getting the biggest possible burst bonus. If that's still not enough, every weekend there will be challenges for the entire community.
